Excavation & Site Preparation
Professional excavation and grading to set every project up for success.
The Foundation Starts With the Ground
Before the first form goes up or the first yard of concrete is poured, the site needs to be right. COA Concrete and Construction provides excavation and site preparation services that ensure a solid, level, properly drained base for whatever comes next.
Whether you need a basement dug, a building pad prepared, or a lot cleared and graded for new construction, our crew handles the dirt work with the same precision we bring to every concrete pour.
What We Handle
- Foundation excavation
- Building pad preparation
- Lot clearing and grubbing
- Grading and leveling
- Trenching for utilities and footings
- Backfilling and compaction
- Driveway and road base preparation
Why Proper Site Prep Matters
Cutting corners on excavation leads to settling, drainage issues, and structural problems that are expensive to fix later. We take the time to get the grade right, compact the sub-base properly, and make sure everything is ready before concrete or construction begins.
Our Process
Site Review
We visit the property, review your plans and survey data, check soil conditions, and identify any challenges like rock, water, or access limitations.
Marking & Permits
We confirm utility locates, establish grade stakes and benchmarks, and ensure all required permits are in place before equipment arrives on site.
Excavation & Grading
Our crew excavates to the specified depth, establishes proper grades for drainage, and compacts the sub-base to engineering specifications.
Ready for Construction
The site is left clean, graded, and fully prepared for the next phase — whether that is a foundation pour, utility installation, or building construction.
What Affects the Cost
Excavation costs are driven by the volume of material that needs to be moved, the type of ground conditions on your site, and how accessible the work area is. A straightforward residential foundation dig on flat, clean ground is very different from a rocky lot with tight access and steep slopes.
In the Ottawa Valley, we frequently encounter Canadian Shield rock close to the surface. Rock removal requires different equipment and more time, which affects pricing. Soil type, water table level, and whether material needs to be hauled off-site or can be redistributed on the lot are all factors we assess during quoting.
We provide free site visits and detailed estimates for all excavation work. No two sites are the same, so we always look at the property in person before quoting. This ensures you get an accurate number — not a guess.
